It is important to note though that many people who want to use the search engines and other internet strategies to bring in business through their website, often make the mistake of bringing in an SEO person after they have their website built or they don’t use one at all thinking a website person without the online marketing training is enough to bring in lots of sales. Most people do not understand that there are critical elements of a website that need to be incorporated correctly before other SEO work is done in order to obtain optimal marketing results, such as menu design, page linking, page development, content order and more. Often money and time is spent on a quality SEO person to fix these mistakes later, and if they are too many or the website is structurally inflexible for change, the site may need to be scrapped and a new one built properly. A good SEO will even turn down a job where there are too many changes required or critical damage done by someone else attempting SEO on a site that resulted in the site being banished to the wilderness area of the search engine result pages and in some cases even penalized by Google. To protect their reputation and to bring in the marketing results that a client wants, they would insist on doing a new proper site, which would be cheaper and more productive for the client. It is like having a beautiful office building built but it was missing doors, elevators and washrooms and wasn’t engineered to hold people and furniture, and the owner then wanted to go rent offices out to some good paying tenants. It would be prohibitively costly to accommodate this objective. Website structuring and SEO strategies need to be done in a way that will last the test of time and be adaptable for change.
