What is the difference between SEO & PPC – like Google AdWords?
SEO and Pay per Click (PPC) are similar in that they both use the search engines to bring search traffic to your website for the purpose of bringing in business or for other purposes.
The listings for both of them appear on the search engine results pages (SERPs) after you search for a specific term or phrase called a keyword.
Organic Search Results
The main results that show on the SERP’s are called organic listings, which are the website links that show up after a search. These sites are, in addition to other factors, deemed as relevant by the search engines. They appear in the coveted first page placement of the SERP by the use of SEO. The traffic generated from the organic listing results is free but there is the cost to have the SEO work done to receive the traffic on your site.
Google AdWords
The results that come into view on a computer screen for the paid advertising are at the top, bottom or the right side of the organic listings in the SERPs. They are sometimes called sponsored links. The website owner pays when someone clicks on one of these ads and thus the term “pay per click” or PPC.
Google AdWords is the biggest online advertising platform by a wide margin. It is a very efficient way to obtain new clients or other objectives using the search engines. However, you should use it wisely to maximize your advertising investment and minimize risk.
Hiring someone with good AdWords management skill is important as each market niche is different and there are many key campaign settings that will make a difference in a PPC campaign. SEO and PPC Summary
Both methods are good for getting website traffic and customers but caution and knowledge should be used in each method to maximize results and return on investment. Each has its particular advantages. The results are going to vary depending on what market you want to go after, the funnel and conversion process you will use and especially the expertise and diligence of the person performing the work.
How do SEO and PPC compare?
A website owner can spend much in extra dollars in PPC costs using this advertising method as there are specific ways to execute it to both minimize your cost and increase your conversion of traffic into customers. In addition, you pay for every time a prospect clicks on your ad so you also have to be aware that there can be a cost from extra unwanted clicks that can occur for different reasons, so you want to have someone manage your PPC campaign who knows what they are doing. We strongly advise against using any marketing strategies that will get quick results but are clearly against what Google is looking for in quality marketing and user experience, as this has a good chance of getting your site penalized by Google and rightly so. This results in a dive in traffic to a website along with the obvious loss of new sales and clients.
If you are getting good return on investment from AdWords and organic traffic (using a good SEO), you can afford to use both methods to grow your organization.
A friend makes nice looking websites – can he/she do my SEO?
Quality SEO and other online marketing services are not simple tasks. The skills take time to learn properly – with good training that use sound techniques. Website design is helpful for marketing but is only the beginning step. Thinking that a website designer (even a very good one) without the specialized skills of SEO, can be good at SEO, is like expecting a receptionist in a surgeon’s office to be able to perform good surgery. They are totally different skill sets.

What if I have a site that has been penalized by Google?
Sometimes we will need to do much work fixing botched attempts at SEO by others that has left the website in critical standings with the search engines. This sometimes even includes penalties from Google. This is similar to the example above where the receptionist at the surgeon’s office was asked to do the surgery. It could also be the case where some SEO work was done on your site awhile ago and Google has since executed one of its famous algorithm updates like Panda or Penguin, throwing your site down in the rankings, but the offending work is still on your site. This is another reason to do SEO work in a manner that Google likes and that will stand long term.
You may have a website that was generating tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars in income per month, but because of a Google penalty the site traffic and income nose dived. Sometimes this can even be caused by what we call negative SEO where someone is attacked by a competitor using someone to hurt your site to gain more business themselves. We can determine the cause of a site’s downfall in rankings and revenue after thorough analysis. Then we will know the course of action to fix it. Some of the high performing sites that get dinged can be repaired and even made stronger than before they were penalized, within one to two weeks.

Marketing Other than Lead Generation
The most important part of the process for you, in regards to time, will be at the initial interview and follow up meeting, which combined would be about an hour or two. It is at this stage we will get the vital information that we need to design and execute a successful online marketing campaign for you. This is where we get to know you and what you want to achieve with your organization. Other small increments of time will be required for approving items. You may decide to write some of the content because you enjoy it and have the time or want to save money, otherwise we can take care of this too.
Once we start the project, we will handle most of the work from there, including writing of content, videos and much more. Further communication can be handled mostly by email and the odd phone call or Skype meeting or by other means. We may ask you to participate briefly periodically for some of our advanced marketing techniques.
It is important to note, that although you are not required to be involved with much of your time, you are always in control of the whole marketing process every step of the way. We keep you informed on what we are doing and proceed only with your approval. We also provide monthly progress reports. So your time is leveraged greatly through us.
